Summer Recipe: Vegan and Beef Burgers!

Summer is in full swing and what better way to enjoy these sunny, warmer days than with a nice, juicy burger! We have two patties recipes, one vegan and one with meat, for you to choose from.

Feel free to transform the recipes to your liking! Remove the ingredients that you are not a fan of or add some new ones like cubes of cheese or perhaps some marinated cubes of tempeh to surprise your guest!

Place the ground meat in a bowl, add the herbs, egg, cheese, beans and saute onions and season. Check for texture and add the breadcrumbs as necessary. You are looking for a patty that holds together. Cook a small portion and taste for flavour and texture. Divide the burger mix in 4 and shape into patties. Cook for 5 - 8 min each side. Enjoy!

 

A green tropical graphic with text that reads: Vegan Burger Patty Ingredients 1/2 Onion, finely chopped 3 Cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 Cup walnuts, toasted and chopped 1 teaspoon parsley, finely chopped 1 teaspoon thyme, finely chopped 1 Tbsp each chili powder and smoked paprika 1 Cup rice, cooked 1 1/2 Cups cooked black beans ( rinsed and mashed) 1/3 Cup bread crumbs (if gluten-free, use gluten-free bread crumbs) 1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil 3-4 Tbsp vegan bbq sauce Salt and pepper to taste Equipment Needed Knife Cutting Board Bowl Pan Spatula Number Of Servings 5 - 7 Time To Prepare 15 Min Time To Cook 25 Min Procedure In a pan saute the chopped onion and the garlic until they start to caramelize add walnuts, herbs and spices, cook for 4-6 min. set aside to cool down. In a bowl place the rice, beans , bbq sauce and onion mix. using your hands, mix until combined, season to taste. Check for texture and add the breadcrumbs as necessary. You are looking for a patty that holds together. Cook a small portion and taste for flavour. Divide the burger mix in 5 and shape into patties. set on a baking sheet and or plate for grilling. Drizzle some oil on the patties, if cooking in the oven bake for 8 - 12 min at 325f is cooking on a grill pan cook for 3 -5 mix each side Enjoy!
